Hi all,
I have had a strange thing happen on two (2) RaQ2s. Over a year ago, I
spent considerable time replacing the cobalt images in the control panel
with my own. Any newly created "place holder" pages for new sites used my
new images and all worked well. Today I notice that my images have quit
appearing, and in their place, the old Cobalt ones show up again.
The /usr/admserv/html/.cobalt/images directory is where the images are
pulled from, and looking in this directory showed that all the images had
been created on April 10, 2001. I know I created mine to put there back in
August 2000. Luckily I had a copy of all the new files I created in a
backup directory so I was able to copy them back where they belonged in one
fell swoop, but...
What caused all my images to be overwritten? I'm assuming that some package
from Cobalt replaced all the files, but why would they do this? These
images aren't mission critical, so why would cobalt mess around with them?
I can only guess that it was the Sun Cobalt RaQ2 OS Update 4.0 that did
this, but since I've got all the updates including those that came after
that, I don't know for sure. It's very probable that my images have been
overwritten since July and I just hadn't noticed.
Just goes to show that even the littlest things get "touched" by the
GUI/packages and customizations are disregarded. Anybody else seen this
behavior? ..had their custom images get overwritten? I guess it's probably
just a "shrug" thing, but I'm curious.
see ya,
Diana
