I am not exactly sure how this happened. I think it was after installing
some PKG files from the Cobalt download site. RPM will now not even
install the most basic rpm packages. It complains about the most basic
dependencies...
error: failed dependences:
/sbin/ldconfig is needed by blahblahblah
ld-linux.so.2 is needed by blahblahblah
libc.so.6 is ditto
/usr/bin/env is ...
libc.so.6(GLIB_2.0) ....
Neither installing rpms manually or via the PKG interface work.
How do I get out of this pickle? I have tried rebuilding the RPM
database but it makes no difference. I need to fix this soon because I
can no longer install security patches. I'm only OK until the next Lion
worm is released.
I have rpm version 3.0.5 installed.

Simon B.
