You could also consider using mysqlfront (http://www.mysqlfront.de) if
your client uses win32 (has anyone tested mysqlfront under wine, btw?). Of
course, you'd need to allow non-localhost connections to the specific
database. Both the use of phpMyAdmin and mysqlfront pose some security
threats, but IMHO they beat having to hand out shell access.
