It appears that the SLOW server doesn't have anything to do with the
installation of the kernel update.
I was just informed that all transit connections are very slow now due to a
cable fracture in the atlantic ocean.
So when that matter is over I will have to install the misinstalled box from
scratch because my installation appears to be terminated in the midwhile.

Perhaps trying to install again over it will be an option ??
