[cobalt-users] Name-based domain problem

Hello,

Have been running 7 IP-based domains on a RAQ4i just to help me get
things started up -- to learn something about the system, to set Mysql
up, to adjust php and cgi scripts, etc. Am now ready to move these sites
to name-based hosting. I tried to do that twice just now without
success. My browsers (NS & MSIE), emptied of caches, cannot serve, the
second name-based domain (domain2.com) -- "There was no response. The
server could be down or is not responding."

Both browsers can serve domain2.com. Both domain names are registered,
and both have been accessible via web and email when request by both IP
address and domain name for about a week. If I go back to the original
settings, one IP per domain, I can reach both domains via web and email.

This is the name-based set up -- very simple:

domain1.com with IP 123.456.789.123 and domain2.com with same IP number
address.

site settings for each domain are correct and use the same IP number.

dual A records for each of the two domain names (both domain1.com and
www.domain1.com, etc.) use the same IP address.

one email record for each of the two name-based domains.

remembered to "save changes" in the RAQ DNS panel.

>From what I've read here and elsewhere, this process ought to be a snap,
but I've tried the above-listed steps twice without success. Once I
tried to access the new name-based domains after rebooting the machine
-- still no dice. I also looked, via FTP, into the /etc/named/
directory, and the files there show the correct settings -- the same IP
numbers for both domains.

I don't know what else I need to do to make this work. Any suggestions
are very welcome. I hope all that needs correcting is some simple but
critical part of the task I've omitted. Wouldn't that be nice? Thanks
ahead of time for any pointers.
