I haven't been following this thread so I don't know what dead.letter
has to do with portsentry but anyway...
dead.letter is created if you cancel (^C) a message during composition
within pine. Its use is kinda questionable.
I suppose if you thought that your priceless prose had been irrevocably
lost when you changed your mind about sending such-and-such romantic
poetic ramblings to your beloved, then dead.letter would be your friend.
I see it as a kind of "recycling center" for old unsent mail that you
*might* wish to resurrect at some later time.
I say without hesitation, delete that bad boy.
