Hi,
hoping someone can enlighten me as to why this happens or perhaps point me
in the direction of some information that explains it.
I have a self-signed 40bit cert on my Raq4 which works fine both for the
admin server and general use (see https://www.blueskyhost.com). In most
cases the browser will simply prompt you to accept the certificate. However
I have noticed that my customers who use Macs (being designers and all)
frequently complain that they can't get access at all. I also had problems
at home with an old IE4 browser where I would just get errors, but this
seems to have disappeared lately. Any explanation would be welcome, a
solution even more so ; )
Also - I remember some comments as to the particularities of the
certificate for the main site on the Raq behaving slightly differently due
to its use for the admin interfaces / control panels. Is there anything I
need to be careful about when I replace my self-signed certificate with a
commercial one?
I actually set up links from my root web directory to my customers' sites
so that they can use my certificate (e.g.
https://www.blueskyhost.com/customer linking to www.customer.com) - is this
still acceptably secure? I can't think of any problems with it, but again
recall reading something about it.
Thanks
Chris Bell
