The only way this could possibly work is to create a FP "web" (ugh!)
within the virtual site structure and access *only* that "web" via FP.
Outside of the FP-aware web you can futz around with FTP to your hearts'
content. If FP doesn't know the "external" directory structure is there,
you can't break anything.
