Thanks all for your input on this one... It was stupid IE6.ohhh!  that
screwed me up,

You know the old tech question, "well, sir, have you installed anything
recently that could have changed why you can't surf?"

I fell for it.

I had just upgraded to IE6 and then was running the flushdns crap...   The
two *appeared* to be related but weren't. I posted this on another thread,
because for some reason this question got separated into several threads...
Probably me not paying attention.

Just for grins, after downgrading my browser again, I flushed the dns, and
surfed just fine...

And yeah, I agree with the reinstall windows comment... kind of duh last
resort thing that doesn't need to be said... besides, if it was that easy to
just reinstall, I would have done it. The stupid cd I have is so beat up it
won't read anymore...
