Hi Per,

Where the mySQL files are is not difficult to find :-)

mysqladmin -uusername -ppassword variables

will tell you they are in:
 datadir                    | /var/lib/mysql/

Backup the database files manually. I recommend using mysqldump in addition
to regular backups. Re-construction of corrupted databases are a lot easier
with access to the dumped tables.

I don't remember where the mysql files are though. An exercise for the
reader... :-)
