Have a client with several domains aliased to one. DNS is setup
for a records for the alias names, and they are in the site confirguration
of the main domain.
I wanted the browser to show www.aliasname.com, instead of
www.maindomain.com
Approaching httpd.conf with care, making a backup, and praying to the
Apache God I discovered:
Yes, if I turn the rewrite off, as Jeff Lassman said in
http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2001-January/029718.html
the alias domain shows in the browser window, but the siteadmin and
user admin no longer work.
So, next I tried what Jeff Lovell suggests in
http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2001-January/029781.html
(setting UseCanonicalName to off) ... which doesn't seem to work.
So, now that forehead is becoming very angular from repeated application
of hand slapping same, I'm wondering exactly how I can have the
alias domain name show up in the browser window without busting the
site admin/user admin pages.
