[cobalt-users] Problems with a RAQ4 and the PostgreSQL server

I am getting the following errors in /var/log/postgresql

FATAL: StreamServerPort: bind() failed: Permission denied
        Is another postmaster already running on that port?
        If not, remove socket node (/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432) and retry.
/usr/bin/postmaster: cannot create UNIX stream port

Port 5432 is not in use (cehcked with netstat)
The box has been rebooted,  /tmp wiped
the log is full of this error, and that file does not appear at all in /tmp

We sucessfully got it started once and then it died again, and now wont run.
Same errors as above.

Any ideas?
This box has all patches.
Also am having some wierd problems with IMAP mail boxes not purging data, or
syncing read/runread or deleted status as well, I am not sure if this is
related but I am mentioning it just incase, if it is unrelated I'll work on
this next)
