You could start to install programmes like mysql in the /home dir (see
http://pkg.nl.cobalt.com/ ) that default to /usr/local/etc. I
moved /usr/doc to /home/doc and created a symbolic link to it from /usr.
If your using a Raq4 there is a a patch which
http://ftp.cobalt.com/pub/packages/raq4/eng/RaQ4-All-System-1.0.1-10659.pkg
should
help in keeping the / file lower.
