[cobalt-users] [RaQ3] Cannot FTP as SiteAdmin

When I try to FTP as a siteadmin user (any host, any client), the login
freezes after printing 2-3 lines of the welcoming message (~/.ftphelp). If I
leave this file empty, the problem goes away. I want to know, however, why
this is happening to all siteadmin's. Clearing the user's siteadmin status
via the GUI also removes the problem. I also see now that siteadmin are the
only ones with .ftphelp files, suggesting the display of this at login is
the problem.

I have restarted the FTP server twice, which did not help. I recently
applied the official ProFTP update (RaQ3-All-Security-4.0.1-10108.pkg).
Everything did, however, work fine straight after the update. Thus, neither
does the update seem related to the problem.

I was also recently infected by a bind worm, which might have done some
harm. I fail to see how, however, as its profile is well known and does not
mention anything about altering FTP functionality.

I see nothing out of normal in /var/log/messages:

Sep 3 20:21:54 ns1 proftpd[26736]: 64.65.48.48
(rafim2-pc.weizmann.ac.il[132.77.68.70]) - FTP session opened.
Sep 3 20:21:56 ns1 proftpd[26736]: 64.65.48.48
(rafim2-pc.weizmann.ac.il[132.77.68.70]) - FTP session closed.

Has anyone experience anything similar, or have suggestions as to what could
be wrong?
