While you might have something goofy going on with
qpopper -but my guess would be that you have a few
users who are popping all their accounts in 1 minute
frequency's... I can't tell you how much bitching I've
engaged in with several of my customers here in the
last few months.. Every freak in the world now has a
fast access connection and think's they're James Bond
and JUST HAVE TO HAVE MAIL CHECKED EVERY 60 SECONDS -
24/7 INTERVALS..!! As if they're little worlds would
come to a end if they actually had that freq setting
set to something like once every 5 minutes..
(geeeeezzzz).. Outlook only compounds the problem, and
the chil-den LOVE to play with ther settings to tweak
it up.... Imagine having only 10-20 (or more) users
(hell that can be just off 1-3 domains depending how
many pops you give with your accounts) set their mail
clients to check mail EVERY 60 SECONDS.. More users
are starting to do this than you might think... Check
you mail logs and see if anyone is abusing your system
with their HYPER POP then shut down their account down
for a few hours while you send them a nasty gram to
tell 'em to BACK-OFF the freq... I actually had a few
users try and chanellge me over this, and the last
time I checked, I'm the only one with root and admin
privalages.. It was real easy -- you either put down
your crack pipe and crank it down a few notches --or--
that little $14/mo account is going to be turned into
a nice big dedicated machine for $450/mo..!! That'll
get their attention.. (I hate Outlook!)
