Re: [cobalt-users] SUCCESS: RaQ3 ISO image too large?

Well, I still couldn't manage to burn the disc with Easy CD Creator 4 Deluxe or 5 Platinum, even after selecting the proper file system...

What I did manage to do, however, is burn the image with Nero (I had tried before to no avail). I opened the image, selected CDROM Mode 1, and clicked the "Raw Mode" checkbox. Header offsets remained at zero, and I clicked ok, selected the CDROM to burn to, and the disc came out perfectly. Now I can continue with the OS install! =)

Thanks for everyone's help!

David,

I have burned several ISO's lately and ran into your problem.

Start EasyCD then go to File>Properties, select the Data Settings tab, make
sure
that under File System, ISO9660 is selected instead of JOLIET. Do not select
Bootable,
as the ISO already has the appropriate files to boot and does not need the
Windows Sys files
which is what it will ask for if you select that option. Click OK.

Go to File>Create CD from Disc Image. It will open a file box and will
probably show a *.cif file, drop down that box and select *.iso it should
then show
whatever iso's you have on file, select the one you want to burn. That
should do it.

This should do the trick, if you have problems burning the CD you might try
a slower
speed setting.

Hi Sean,

No, I'm still stuck. We're supposed to be configuring this RaQ3 for
a customer to host his web content, but I've got no way of installing a
new OS. I've used Nero, EasyCD v4/v5, and KOnCD (Xwindows) in my
attempts to burn the RaQ3-original.iso. Nero complains the ISO is too
large, and even refuses to overburn it (Yamaha writer), EasyCD Creator
(4 Deluxe/5 Platinum) complains that the image is corrupt/damaged, and
KOnCD burns a shiny coaster. I've downloaded the image three times now
(once as a gzip, twice uncompressed).

Although the README in the /pub/iso dir states that the size of the
iso is normal, I've not had any luck with it. I was almost hoping I
could find an 86 minute CD haha.

did u resolve this problem?
i cant burn it to an 80min CD either, i have tried Nero / Easy CD v5 and
DiskAtOnce

let me know how you did it, if you did it.

i am hoping i can then install this image on a normal i386 PC ?

Sean

Hello,

I'm trying to re-install the operating system on a Cobalt RaQ3.
I've downloaded the image from ftp.nl.cobalt.com, and after gunzip'ing
it I found the image size to be 766Mb - obviously too large even for an
80min CD. Now, the readme.txt states that the size in bytes does not
correctly identify the actual image size, and that I can burn this image
on a standard 650Mb disc. I've tried and tried to burn the software
(using Nero), but to no avail. The software complains that the image is
too large to burn - if I force it to overburn the disc, I produce a
wonderfully useless coaster. Any ideas on how I should go about this?

  Thanks in advance!

P.S. Is there any reference/guide I should know about in regards to
re-installing the OS on any of the Cobalt RaQ or Qube systems?
