[cobalt-users] ChiliSoft Upgrade (was: Chilisoft SpicePack)

<snip>

I have to confess, I have had nothing but prompt and positive experiences
with the Chili!Soft team. One thing they neglect to mention in this instance
though is that installing the upgrade will kill all your existing DNS and
SETSQLNK entries. Kinda important wot?

Gotta agree - the Chili!Soft team is top-notch.

We just upgraded our Raq3 to the new release of CS and SpicePack - the DSN
entries going away was annoying (we have 15 databases on our server), and
other than my relative incompetence in uninstalling packages (which you have
to do), the upgrade went quite well. Before you upgrade, be sure you go to
the CS admin and PRINT OFF EVERY SCREEN - this saved me much guesswork, and
gave me a clear path to go by when reconstructing the system. Other than
that, the upgrade instructions provided with the package are clear and
accurate.

This release appears to be MUCH more stable than the last - we were
rebooting the CS server at least once a week (once every couple of days at
times) on the last release. I upgraded 17 days ago, and my Chili!Soft
server has now been running for... 17 days!
