RE: [cobalt-users] Disaster recovery

I am investing into a 2nd RaQ3 that will be used solely for
disaster recovery. My plan is to make tar files of the whole
active machine and have the 2nd one waiting with a fresh OS
Restore loaded. Maybe test it each month.

If you are investing in a second RAQ anyway you might want to
Look at Staqware from Cobalt.

StaQware Cluster protects against any system failure on the RaQ.
This includes disk failure, power supply failure, network failure
etc.

I thought it (Staqware) had been discontinued... in fact looking at the Cobalt site there seems very little information even about the RAQ3 (and I think Staqware was only available on the RAQ3i)?

On the Sun Cobalt site they just refer to Sun RaQ (RaQ4) and Sun RaQXTR - see: http://emea.cobalt.com/products/product.comparison.html or http://emea.cobalt.com/products/raq/index.html and they don't even offer them for sale - see: http://www.cobalt.com/products/raq/howtobuy.html

Thanks...
