It would appear that my primary hard drive has failed. It's still up as the mirrored drive is still OK. I plan to put a 30GB 5400RPM Fujitsu IDE drive the replace the primary. Is it a simple case of taking out the old and replacing it with the new and it will mirror it appropriately?
Can't you just get the first drive replaced? I would always replace like-with-like where possible.
I assume its a RAQ4r - that originally had a 2 x 20Gb drives (1 of which has failed) - not sure what will happen if you put a larger drive in - it will probably work - just that you will only get 20Gb out of it.
In the manual is the specification for compatible drives (I also published it here a few days ago) so should be ok just to power down the server - replace the drive and power back up! Will take quite a while to re-mirror though during which time performance will suffer.
Please (if possible) backup the server *completely* before you do this, make sure you replace the right drive (no offence meant but I have seen people re-mirror RAID systems and end up wiping everything!) and make sure the new drive you are putting in is blank.
Thanks...
