httpd cannot be edited by something like PICO as its a binary. To illustrate
my point, do:
tail -5 /usr/sbin/httpd
which will list the last 5 lines of the file, and it will be utter junk!
(You might need to logout/login to repair if your term gets corrupted)
What you are probably looking for is the httpd.conf file which is located at
/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
