Brenda,
a single directory protection through Frontpage
is a very simple and easy way. Please use your
FrontPage-Explorer and turn the requested directory
into a child web.
Then connect to the child web using your FP-Explorer
and change the user permissions.
The directory (child web) is now user/password protected
and only accessible if the visitor knows the username
and password.
If you'd like to publish new content to that directory
then publish it to http://www.yourdomain.com/directoryname
The child web is still part of your FrontPage web and
it is working properly.
Never change a FP-web .htaccess file manually because
it's a FrontPage configuration file ;-)
