Let me see if I understand this, Mr. Kerry.
You post a message on a public list. I take the time to
respond to that message, which stated "any advice would be greatly
appreciated", posting my response to the list, not contacting you
directly, and thereby providing you with a command that will indeed
help you locate the cause of that problem and you call that spam?
Are you impaired, Mr. Kerry? If so stop reading here and
please accept my profond apology if you feel the need to read on.
I, we or us have never solicited a member of this list - any
one that we have solicited should feel free to say otherwise. We
don't do offer colocation, we don't offer dedicated servers, and
neither I or my staff are available to the members of this or
any other list as paid consultants, installers, or whatever. Fact
is, with the possible exception of our virtual hosting clients
or resellers that may be lurking here without my knowledge, there is
only one member of this list that has ever paid me or any member of
my staff for doing anything.
And, if you consider what you found when following the link
in my signature to spam, perhaps you should consider the facts.
Google, currently the most popular search engine on the Internet,
will delete any web site it can't find an external link to within
three weeks of that site being submitted. Google, Inktomi and more
consider external links to a site to be indicative of a site's
popularity and thereby boost or lower a site's ranking after finding
and counting the external links that point to that site.
Fuddpucker.com, which is well listed, was createdfor the sole
purpose of providing a quality link for the hundreds of sites we
manage for our clients. More than one member of this list has
submitted a site for inclusion in fuddpucker.com and I invite
those who did to state exactly how much spam they have received from
us...
Worse yet, perhaps, I've personally logged on to their
servers and bailed more than a few members of this list out of a
situation that their colo's support team couldn't handle and I
usually do so, when asked, at no charge. The one member of this list
that I did bill for services rendered back when we had time to take
on consulting projects, will most certainly tell you that he's only
been billed for a very very small fraction of the time that we
expended in his behalf. Just a few weeks ago that particular client
sent us a $200.00 check because he, and he's the one that said it,
felt so guilty over all the time we spent making him look to his
clients without our bothering to charge him for those efforts.
About a year ago, before another fine upstanding netizen
pissed me off, I spent many hours writing detailed instructions on
how to install portsentry, posted them to this list, then freely
supported a dozen or so requests for help from members of this list
that needed a bit of hand holding - and I did so at no charge.
Any one of you who has had a different experience with me,
or with us, is hereby invited to state your piece in this public
forum.
Gad, there are members of this list who have contacted us
for things such as colocation and whose business we've literally
turned away simply because I don't want to be posting to this for
the wrong reasons... I do it for one reason, as a payback. You see,
lurking on lists way back before you were probably even born was how
I learned what I know know.
So tell me... better yet, post the spam you accuse me of
sending to this list for all the world to see. As any one that
possess something that could even remotely pass for a clue will
surely tell you, spam complaints should be submitted with the
message and with the full headers of that message in tack.
As I've already stated, if you are impaired please accept my
profound apology. Otherwise, Fuck you and the horse you road in on
you clueless piece of crap.
