[cobalt-users] MORE INFO: Local Video - Cobalt Qube

Many people asked for more info so they could help. Here are
some additional details. Plus a log in if you need it...

This is an i386 box running Linux 2.2.16. I've re-compiled the kernel
from scratch after turning on "VGA Text Console" support from
"make menuconfig". That seemed to help some. I've also build Xfree86
v4.1.0 from source. So both (kernel and source) are buildable
on this system.

I have an ATI xpert 128 PCI card in this system. There is no
keyboard or mouse (and no ports to plug them). There is no
VGA support in the BIOS either. This is a full function server, but
designed to be an appliance, not a general purpose workstation.

I need to get X running on this box to display images via a
perl script. I don't need local keyboard or mouse interaction. Just
X working with the video card.

Now, when I try to "startx", it tells me: "no screens found". The
log is attached below.

I can let you telnet directly to this box to poke around if you have
some idea of how to fix this. It is a virgin machine that I can reload
if something "breaks". If you want to log in, send me a note... I'll
send you the info privately.
