[cobalt-users] Upgrading Apache on RaQ3

Hello - (hope this isn't a duplicate post - I posted
hours ago, and never got confirmation, and haven't
seen in archives) . . .

BACKGROUND:

I've searched both the user group archives and the new
Sun message boards, and actually found someone else
who has asked the identical question, but found no
answer.

I am learning how to run my RaQ3 everyday, more and
more. Fairly new to Linux. I've had lots of problems
with FastCGI, and regular CGI is very slow - trying to
run EmuMail Webmail. Emumail strongly recommended
that I upgrade my Apache version from 1.3.6 to the
latest 1.3.20, which they are most used to seeing on
RaQ's.

There is lots on the archive about upgrading Apache,
but it mostly had to do w/ dealing with PHP, etc. I
don't run ChiliSoft or PHP on my RaQ3.

I found the .tar of Apache 1.3.20 at www.apache.org.

QUESTION #1:
Can someone give me a PLAY BY PLAY on how to install
this, restart, etc?

QUESTION #2:
Is this server SUICIDE to upgrade Apache from 1.3.6 to
1.3.20? I noticed there are no official "Cobalt"
patches to upgrade their version of Apache.

I would greatly appreciate your help, and I'll also
post replies to the bulletin boards at Sun, where this
same question has been asked by another user, without
an answer.

Thanks in advance,
Fred McKinnon, HPP Christian Hosting
