My RaQ4 comes with JRE 1.2 on it. I need 1.3 to run DigiChat - so
I've installed the Sun J2 SDK 1.3.1.
I've downloaded the DigiChat stuff and unpacked it, my problem lies
where I am supposed to export paths and start the server.
The installation instructions say to enter these commands on the
command line:
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/jre/bin/
export DIGICHAT=/usr/local/DigiChat/
jre -Duser.dir=$DIGICHAT -cp $DIGICHAT/Server.zip
digi.digichat.ChatServer noconsole
(those last two lines are actually one line)
Well, the SDK put the jre stuff in /usr/java/jdk1.3.1/jre, so I
changed my export PATH line to:
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/jdk1.3.1/jre/bin/
Next, the DigiChat folder is at /home/installs/DigiChat, so I changed
that line to:
export DIGICHAT=/home/installs/DigiChat
A question about this: Should I have the DigiChat folder in the
/home/sites/home directory somewhere rather than deeper in the
server? Should it be in the actual /web folder?
My immediate problem that is stopping me right now from seeing if I
need to move the DigiChat folder or anything is that when I run the
command:
jre -Duser.dir=$DIGICHAT -cp $DIGICHAT/Server.zip
digi.digichat.ChatServer noconsole
I get this error:
sh: jre: command not found
I'm so totally stuck.
Help?
I have successfully installed Kaffe on a RaQ4 before but I asked the
DigiChat people and they said that DigiChat does run fine on RaQ4's,
and that they recommend Sun's JRE 1.3 or IBM's JRE 1.3 - so I
installed the Sun package listed at the top of the screen. I could
NOT find a download for just the JRE1.3 to save my life. I found
installation instructions, but no freaking download.
Any advice, tips, etc. would be much appreciated...
(sending this at 3:30pm EST on Saturday, let's see how long it takes
to show up...)

Thanks for your quotes!
I'm now trying to find a way to randomize them automagically so I can
use them all...
