You can effectively "turn off" IMAP by putting a pound sign (#) next
to it in /etc/inetd.conf. In the Cobalts though, this will cause
Active Monitor to have a shitfit.
Shimi posted some excellent instructions on how to stop Active
Monitor from checking to see if IMAP is running - do a search in the
archives for "IMAP Shimi" or something like that.
