I know it's not on most lists for billing software for
hosting companies but we finally settled on QuickBooks Pro. Had to
actually read the manual to figure everything out and we paid a
professional to set the accounts for us but our billing is now
totally automated. We run our entire business on QuickBooks Pro. The
biggest benefit, IMO, is that you can make an accountants copy of
the database (doing so means one can continue to use Quickbooks
while the accountant massages the database and then everything is
updated when the accountants copy is re-installed). Using it has
saved us a bunch of money as we no longer need the services of a
bookkeeper on a regular basis. Once a year we set an accountant
loose on a copy of the database to make sure things are right and
now we always know exactly where we stand with each and every aspect
of the financial end of our business.

The only downside is that it's like Windows... it pitches
AOL and the like during the install... other than that, it rocks as
billing solution.
