[cobalt-users] Re: Qube Question

hi,

first I need to precise you that I have done it on a Qube3 x86 based while
your Qube2 its MIPS based.
I haven't tried any of the tools you mention on a Qube2.

Hoever I believe you have a 95% of chance to have it working on a Qube2.

The software is freely available at http://www.psionic.com/download
Search the cobalt mailing-list archive for detailed information on
compilation. (I've seen it once).

What the software does (in short) is: all connection try to port number that
are not assigned are logged as suspect (scan?) if there is a know
combination of malignus factors an attack alert is given, additionally you
can choose to automatically put the originator IP address in your hosts.deny
file.

All this is only usefull if the qube has a public IP. If you have your
private lan on one side and another little private lan to connect your
router which has on the outside a public IP address.... then in this case I
don't think those tools will give you nothing more than alerts for people in
your own private lan that tries to break in the Qube.
