Does that file exist? If not, find it by doing:
1. updatedb & (then wait for the job to finish)
2. locate mysql.sock
Then create a symbolic link from the expected location (/tmp/mysql.sock) to
the actual location using "ln -s". Alternately you can edit phpMyAdmin to
look for the socket file in the actual location where it resides on your
system.
