RE: [cobalt-users] Custom 404 messages.

simply put the httpd ErrorDocument statement in a .htaccess file for each
site (or in their httpd.conf virtual host section) / directory that needs a
custom 404 message. I do it on my RaQ3 with no problems. Don't remove the
lines from srm/httpd.conf as that will not show an error document for sites
that don't have custom documents. Putting it in a .htaccess file allows the
user to change the file or output (html can be used instead of a url in
ErrorDocument) without rebooting httpd.

Subject: [cobalt-users] Custom 404 messages.

Good afternoon, friends.

I've been e-mailed this morning by someone asking about custom 404
messages on his RAQ.

He wants to define them on a per-site basis. (www.xxx.com having one 404
page, www.yyy.com having another)

I told him, he'd have to remove mention of the ErrorDocument 404 in
srm.conf add FileInfo permissions to AllowOverride in the access file, and
then create .htaccess files everywhere pointing to the correct 404 message
for the site.

Is there a better way ?
