[cobalt-users] Need help with bouncing email

After setting up a standard user/email account on one
of our RaQ 3i's (recent clean install and all updates)
the account was accessed by an IMAP Web client and
then stopped working within a few hours. Subsequently
all email sent to the address received the following
typical bounce reply.

<user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:
111.222.111.222 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 553 <user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... No
such user here
Giving up on 111.222.111.222.

When I checked the account seemed fine on the RaQ, I
was able to access the account with a POP3 client and
the RaQ reported no issues. The other email account on
the same domain was able to send and receive data. Yet
still any mail sent to the problem account was
bounced.

As it was a new account I had the luxury of deleting
it which I did, then I rebooted the server and created
a new account which is now working fine. No doubt some
broad strokes which hopefully can be avoided once I
know what the problem is.

Regardless, this type of unexplained error has given
me the jitters as you might imagine since it would
seem I will not know a mailbox has failed until a
customer finds out their mail is getting bounced. And
you know what those conversations are like.

The only post I have seen which seems related is
regarding a know mailbox lockup which occurs during
IMAP session (the mailbox does not get unlocked after
the webmail or Outlook session ends sometimes). While
there is an easy fix via a telnet session, this is a
reactive response not a proactive one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Paul
