Yes, it is. It's the Active Monitor checking all of your different
services and making sure they're still running (or not having a
problem, in which case it would start flashing its little red light at
you in the GUI to let you know).
Whenever you see something in your log that goes off like a charm
every 15 minutes, you can pretty much bet that it's the Active Monitor
poking around and making sure the ship is still afloat.

As far as having a little Linux experience... the RaQ4 is compatible
with RedHat 6.2. It uses the same filesystem and even uses the same
files, *but* if you make changes to the files by hand, and then access
something in the GUI that would affect that file, your changes will be
completely overwritten. So be careful about that. It's because the GUI
keeps its own copy of what those files should have in them, and when
you make a change it simply re-writes the entire file rather than
accessing the file, doing a grep for what it needs to change, and
changing it. If it did this, Rodolfo explained to me, it could be
considered "deriving" information from the Linux files, and Cobalt
would then have to make its GUI GNU - they *don't* want to do that.

Make good use of the archives (the search form is on the same page as
what you used to sign up for this list as well as being at the bottom
of EACH post) and read your Meta-Faq that came with the subscription;
there are some really good URLs in there for Cobalt-specific info.

Your first order of business - make sure that RaQ has all of the
patches and updates, and is secured as much as possible.

Welcome aboard!
