[cobalt-users] Basic Firewall on Qube 3

Hi,

I'm a newbie to Cobalt and have just bought a Qube 3 for my home network.
I always thought I understood TCP & Firewalls on a basic level but now I'm lost,
I can do the basic setup allowing everything on my network to see the Qube fully
and only allowing access from the internet to the services I want them to see.

The place where I have problems is the forwarding/masquerading of my network
traffic allowing the hosts to fully see the internet. It seems no matter how I
configure it I either feel that I have left the Qube wide open (maybe misguided)
or I have trouble with some services accessing the net.

I have searched through the archive and also the net but the main problem is
that I can only find help for IP Chains and not for the lovely GUI that Cobalt
give everything. I see a number of you have mentioned that it is not a good
idea to to modify settings withough going though the GUI so I am loathed to do
anything that way but understand if it's the only way. It seems that one of the
easiest ways to enable replies to get back to the network is allowing SYN
packets back in but the GUI does not seem to let you specify this.

I really hope I am not asking something obvious but I have been looking all over
the place for the last few days and just can't find anything.

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards
