Hi,
I have a very strange problem. Several times (about 10-15 times now), my
machine is not pingable. I explain myself :
Thursday, a couple of weeks ago, my machine was unavailable from the
network. My ISP called my to ask if they should collect the machine for me.
I could not ping the machine, SSH to it or anything for that matter. I
thought the machine was switched off or rebooted itself.
The first time it happened for 2 hours, the second time (the next day) for 6
hours, then very erratically since then for a few hours at a time at
different times on different days.
I looked in the logs every time the machine is pingable again. There is no
entry for the times the machine was not pingable. However, asking for a
status on MySQL tells me the machine has been up for 23 days (since I
rebooted last).
My questions are:
- Are there any known virus doing that ?
- Could it be a problem at my ISP (they swear there is none) ? If so how do
I know all the machines on the same subnet to see if the subnet is down.
- Is there any god RAQ3 co-location places in the UK (not too expensive) as
I am fed up with mine.
Thanks
Gilles
