[cobalt-users] [Qube2] fetchmail/mailing list distribution problem
- Subject: [cobalt-users] [Qube2] fetchmail/mailing list distribution problem
- From: David Petermeier <david.petermeier@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

- List-id: Mailing list for users to share thoughts on Cobalt products. <cobalt-users.list.cobalt.com>
Our Qube2 retrieves messages every 15 minutes from one multidrop mailbox on
our ISP's mail server and then distributes them to the users on our
Qube2. The Qube2 stopped distributing messages from mailing lists (i.e.
listserv, majordomo list, etc) to the local users on the list. Instead,
all mailing list messages end up in the admin mailbox. All messages
addressed directly to a particular user get distributed properly.
I tried the following fix which I found in the cobalt-users archives:
>
You need to edit /var/fetchmail/multidrop:localdomain so that it looks
something like this:
poll "your_isp.com"
envelope "To"
localdomains mydomain.com
username "myname"
password "password"
to *
The key is to add 'envelope "To"' above the localdomains line.

This did not fix the problem and now the admin box receives the following
Cron Daemon message every time the Qube retrieves mail from our ISP (every
15 minutes):
You must specify direct recipients with -s, -c, or -b.
sys... User unknown
/root/dead.letter... Saved message in /root/dead.letter
The message in /root/dead.letter is:
An error has occured attempting to retrieve remote email.
Please correct this error as soon as possible.
Cannot retrieve email from remote email server
So now not only are mailing list messages piling up in the admin mailbox
but so are these error messages at the rate of 4 per hour. Does anyone
have a suggestion on how to fix this?
