Take a look at your own email client and see if it is set to "leave on
server." In Outlook Express, click on TOOLS - ACCOUNTS and double-click on
your email account and then click on the ADVANCED tab. See if there is a
checkmark in "leave on server" (and hopefully "remove after x days) and
remove it. For another email client, just look for the account settings and
look around. Also, I presume you are talking about POP and not IMAP.
Hopefully it's that and not something else.
