Hi all,
I will like to know if anyone is performaing backup over network for the
Raqs. My problem is that i have already a DELL powervault but the raq is not
pre configurated to dump on dell powervault.
Is there any way (cgi script using dump or amanda or simply tar ??) that can
perfom the backup but also the recovery. I am sure i can perform the backup
this way, and a total drive backup and use cron to make the task automated,
but i am really lost about the restore procedure. how can i restore the
whole system from the network ???
Even if i restore the OS and network it again, how can i use the restore
files ?
Do the restore procedure will copy and replace every files, even the system
files without crashing the system during the transfer??
Is everything will still be the same as before?? using this backup ?
If i cannot use the network to restore, what are the other solution ?
Take the HD out and restore offline.
If anyone have input on this , i ll be really glad (make me saving a lot of
$$$ because i already have have a power vault 120 gig storage un-used here
!!!The vault support NSF,FTP and also unix file type without problem.
Please dont tell me to buy a DTS, legato and etc, i want to see if i can
re-use my old stuff.
Also if you answer is negative, wich backup system is the best to buy for
the current Raq ?
Thank
Stephan
