errm sorry if this sounds too simple, BUT
where does your MX record point?

When I set up a virtual domain I have DNS entries as follows;
A record	domain.com		IP
A record	www.domain.com	IP
A record	mail.domain.com	IP
MX Record	mail delivered to; mail.domain.com

Primary User is then set up with the additional alias @www.domain.com
Email is subsequently collected via POP3 server; mail.domain.com
