[cobalt-users] Please supplement majordomo info for an idiots guide!

Dear all,

I gave up trying to find the, what I am sure is a simple, answer to my query
in the archives after 3 hours. If the answer does lie somewhere in there and
I am going over covered ground, please accept my apologies!

I've just taken a Raq4i (leased) and am in the process of shipping all my
clients across to it. (I'm a designer, not a system administrator) When I
rang up for advice to a number of hosting providors looking for a reseller
package, I was recommended to get a RAQ because they were perfect for what I
wanted. OK I've no doubt that is true, but with NO experience in either
Telnet/Shell, Unix or Linux, I now feel just a little out of my depth! I
have managed to sort a couple of early problems by using this list already,
thanks, but the following answers elude me!

I'm trying to set up majordomo to work for one of my client sites. Fine,
I've set up the form, done a test submission, and I get the message back
from majordomo to tell me that I am subscribed. Great I thought!!! Majordomo
also reponds to all the commands listed in the FAQ's and documentation that
I can find when I submit emails to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxx but;

It does not appear to want to send messages back out to the list members ie
me! What is the address that mailouts should be sent to. I have tried
sending to both <listname>@domain.com and <listname>@www.domain.com but
neither returns the message to me. (the set up list is called updates so I
sent mail to updates@xxxxxxxxxx and updates@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) Is this the
correct address? Is the fact that I have a "catch all" email set up under
one of the users what is causing the problem?

Also, I could do with knowing how to set up the list such that only a number
of people can actually submit messages to the list, namely myself as
webmaster and the site owner, such that the list only serves to send out
updates for such thangs as offers/new features of web/instore promotions to
the subscribed recipients.
