I use RackShack, and I'm satisfied with everything except their phone
technical support. If you need tech support, email, because it then seems to
go to the right person if you succinctly describe the problem (they had a
bad router - phone guy claimed it was DNS and got very rude when I told him
it most certainly was not a DNS problem. They fixed it very quickly when I
emailed the details). I also had a question about email bouncing due to the
old "MX points back to me" problem which they couldn't answer - I ended up
asking a BOFH friend of mine who told me in about 10 seconds what the
problem was. (The guy on the phone told me that "they aren't allowed to give
us too much support" which I thought was a hilarious way of avoiding saying
"I don't know")
Rackshack.net is owned by my local ISP (ev1.net) and is based in Houston,
Texas. Their dialup service is good, and their dedicated hosting bandwidth
lives up to their promise, too. ev1.net has a long history of offering the
best deal on the Net (their virtual hosting and dialup is the best priced of
either that I've seen).
Rackshack.net looked too good to be true when I first saw it, but seeing as
their ISP services were reliable, I decided to give it a go. So far, it's
lived up to its promise and overall I'd recommend them, so long as you know
enough about UNIX not to need tech support ;-)
