Hi Group,
Does anyone know what the "META vacuum" script does that sits in cron.daily..?
One of my RaQ3's is a experiencing problem(s), almost nightly with different
cron (daily) jobs, I think with the "vacuum" script.
Last week, I recvd the following error (but only once):
NOTICE: Rel pg_class: TID 2/4: InsertTransactionInProgress 3708619 - can\'t
shrink relation
Then today, I login to find this error waiting for me:
NOTICE: BlowawayRelationBuffers(pg_attribute, 8): block 23 is dirty (private
0, last 0, global 0)
META vacuum - FAIL: pqReadData() -- backend closed the channel unexpectedly.
This probably means the backend terminated abnormally before or while
processing the request.
What's going on with this box and META Vacuum..? I have NO idea what that
script is used for.. I've run meta-verify against the machine, and all appears
to be okay; but there has to be a reason it's complaining so freq with all
these little nagging errors..?
Do the various cron jobs in cron daily need to be run in any certain order?
Wouldn't it be better to move these programs (scripts) to /usr/local/bin and
call them from cron-tab at staggered times so they're not tripping over each
other all trying to run at once at 4AM...? Or is this something a little more
serious..?
Thanks for any input!
David D
