Probably the best thing to do is create a rescue disk, using something like
tomsrtbt  (from http://www.toms.net/rb/ ), pull the disk out of the Cobalt
and stick it into a disk-less server.  You can then boot it from the rescue
disk.  Your Cobalt partitions should be listed as hda1, hda2 (the swap),
hda3, and hda4 - fcsk away merrily and you should be sorted.  Then you can
put the disk back in the Cobalt, and reach for the paperclip :-)

This isn't guaranteed to work, but will work most of the times that the LCD
sticks on "Booting....".  But you may still need that restore CD.
