RE: [cobalt-users] what is email relaying denied?

Sorry, i know that this is a expert user cobalt list, but i need to make a
newbie question, i got problem when i try to send a email , i receive a
message "email relaying denied" when i use pop3 email account with a dial
up access, what is wrong?, the problem i resolve when i get into email
server preferences and i record the domain of the domain i try to send, but
i can't beleive this is the solution because think all the domain in the
world there are now, i couldn't record one by one all the domains that
exist now in internet, i beleive i'm wrong, please somebody can explain me
please?

David,

Everybody asks this question at first.

The problem is that your Raq doesn't have your I/P in its list of approved
relay I/Ps. On a dialup, you get a different I/P every time, so the only
way you can allow yourself to send through the server is to allow anyone who
uses your ISP (or a large segment of them, anyway) to use YOUR server to
send mail. You CAN do this, but it's not recommended. We choose to use our
ISP for outgoing mail (pop3.myisp.com, for example), and only use our server
for incoming mail.
