My response is as off-topic as the first message and the above response...
but I have friends in the US military and don't think this is a fair
comment. Our "spies" as you call them have instructions to destroy
sensitive equipment and programs on-board the airplane in the case of this
sort of event... AFAIK... this was done.. I don't believe they are
instructed to, or have the means to blow up the entire aircraft.

Let's not sit here at our keyboards and snipe at those out there at the tip
of the spear...
