Did you really mean "with success"? If you were not able to install PHP4,
the rest doesn't matter.

If you want the file extension .php4 to be treated as PHP change the line
above to:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php3 .php .php4

Maybe you can give some more details about the software versions you tried,
the steps you tried, what worked, what didn't work and what errors you got.
