As far as I know, it is. You just need to enable it...
Add a line like this to the php.ini file:
extension=mysql.so
and reload the webserver.

_Don't_ do this. You will break the GUI -- and there is currently _no_ way
to avoid that. I have written to Cobalt to get a copy of their cce sources,
but so far they have not decided whether or not to release the source codes.
Due to another "stupid mistake" at Cobalt, it is not currently possible to
upgrade or add extra extensions to your PHP on RaQ XtR or Qube 3. They
simply left out for example the phpize command...
