    I doubt you were singled out.  Once they compromised a server on your
ISP's network they probably went down that subnet looking for more victims.
This is what was happening a few weeks back with the hosting company I was
employed with.  Another thing to consider is, was it a user that had telnet
access?  I have seen admins selling hosting on their server that had in
excess of 90 to 100 shell accounts for their users.  Allowing your users
telnet access is risky business these days, often they share their usernames
and passwords with others that may or may not be trustworthy.
