Gavin, thanks for the reply; perhaps you could pass the
question on to somebody in Cobalt / Sun who will give us
a definitive answer.
This is not a purely academic question - I'm sure that there
are people here who would like to customise and redistribute
the Cobalt distribution without having to worry about Sun's
lawyers. Going further, I think it would be to Sun's advantage
to actively encourage the user community to contribute to
development.
But in the meantime if Sun / Cobalt think their code is not
covered by the GPL, what do GNU think?
