Just use htaccess and htpasswd files and remember to disable mod_pam, or if
you just want to allow users from your box dispense with the mod_pam
disabling (is that a double negative?) and don't bother using the .htpasswd
Contact me directly if you need advice on how to add users to .htpasswd
files.
