that goes out to every subscriber automatically. If someone can't be
bothered to read a FAQ that comes from a mailing list, I don't have too much
sympathy when they can't find the archives. At this point, everyone who
subscribed before the FAQ started going out automatically certainly knows
where the archives are.
As far as techniques go, I'm not sure what they would say in that. I'm not
sure if a basic lesson in searching is or should be needed for anyone
running their own server. It's mostly common sense, e.g., grab a couple
words from an error message you get from the server and search. Read the
subjects. Find the beginning of the thread. Read all the posts in the thread
if it looks promising to make sure the answers are correct and a resolution
to the problem was found.
